How long will it take?

We get most students in the air in half a day or less. Please plan on being at Sky’s The Limit at least ½ a day, with additional covid restrictions, weather, and other factors beyond our control, which may delay your skydive.

What should I wear?

You should wear comfortable clothes appropriate for the season. Shorts and a t-shirt for a hot day are acceptable. Due to covid restrictions, we cannot provide jumpsuits at this time, so please wear attire you don’t mind that you may get grass stains on.

Can I bring a cooler, frisbee, or pet?

HOW TO DECIDE BETWEEN HANDY CAM AND VIDEO PACKAGE

What are the benefits of choosing Handy Cam?
HD video and about 50-60 photos, all shot from your tandem instructor’s outstretched arm during the freefall and under canopy. You will have images from inside the plane, all of your freefall, all of the parachute ride, and your landing. Your instructor will capture shots of you and the view, and you and the parachute. If you want people to see you during your entire skydive, then Handy Cam is the way to go.

What are the benefits of choosing the video package?
HD video and 50-60 photos captured from the perspective of a separate person flying around you in the sky. You will have images from inside the plane, an outside perspective of your exit, all of your freefall and your landing. Because your videographer is flying a separate parachute, you will not have video or photos of your time under the parachute. If you want people to see what you saw on your skydive, and a larger perspective of the view, then the video package is the way to go.

Why not both?
If you want the best of both worlds, then we can combine the close-up personal nature of Handy Cam and the wider view of the video package. This super package gives your friends and family the best of your reactions combined with the big picture that the video package provides.
RESTRICTIONS

Is there a minimum/maximum age limit?
You do have to be over the age of 18. We require a valid photo ID. There is no predefined maximum age. If you are in good health, it is likely that you can skydive. Tandem skydives have been safely made by people in their 90s!

Is there a weight limit?
Tandem students can jump weighing up to 225 lbs. with no additional charge. If your weight is between 226 lbs. and 245 lbs., there is an additional charge of $20.00.

Can I jump with my special health condition or physical challenge?
Skydiving is possible for more people than you might imagine. We’ve made successful jumps with many people who have special needs. Each situation is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and you should always seek your doctor’s advice. Call us and we will be happy to discuss your special needs or concerns.

THE DAY OF YOUR JUMP

How long will it take?
We get most students in the air in half a day or less.

What if it rains?
Tandems should call prior to leaving.

What should I wear?
You should wear comfortable clothes appropriate for the season.Shorts and a t-shirt for a hot day are fine.

Please plan on signing in one half hour before your class begins.

Can I bring a cooler, frisbee, or pet?
You are welcome to bring a frisbee or other items to play with while you’re waiting to jump. Coolers are fine as long as there is NO ALCOHOL. ALCOHOL is strictly prohibited on the airport during operation hours. If we suspect you have been drinking, you will not skydive, and you will be asked to leave. Please leave pets at home.
YOUR FIRST JUMP

How high do you go?
Tandem students exit the aircraft between 10,000 feet and 13,500 feet.

Do I have to do a tandem first or have any other type of aviation background?
We require that you do at least one tandem skydive before entering our student program. Skydiving is not as simple as jumping out of the plane and pulling a ripcord. Having an experienced instructor with you to help get you acclimated is the best way to ensure your safety and enjoyment while you are introduced to this exciting sport. The only exception to this rule may be if you’ve been in a formal training program somewhere else.

What if I wear glasses or contact lenses?
No problem, we supply goggles that will fit over your glasses and also keep your contacts in place

What if I get sick?
A few people have been known to get motion sickness under the parachute but not in freefall. In freefall you will feel like you are just floating on a column of air, there is no feeling of height or of falling. If you are susceptible to motion sickness, perhaps a Gravol or Dramamine will help. Ensure you inform your instructor of your tendency of getting motion sickness, so we can make every effort to avoid any motion sickness on your skydive.

Should I get video?
Of course, if it’s your first jump, absolutely. You will never forget your first jump, none of us ever do, but skydiving is such a high speed and intense experience, many people do not recall a lot of the details of their jump. Having a video will help you recall the whole exciting event. In the years to come, you will be able to share the experience with your friends and family.

Can I split the video with someone else?
Unfortunately, no. The video person jumps with just one tandem and films just one person while in freefall. Our camera flyer can film you and your friend on the ground, in the aircraft and sometimes during landing. We cannot film two separate tandems in freefall with one video package.

How long is the jump?
You will spend approximately 12 minutes in the aircraft climbing to altitude, get up to 1 minute in freefall and approximately a 5-minute parachute ride.

How hard is the landing?
All the parachutes used at Sky’s The Limit are Ram Air (square) parachutes, which are highly maneuverable. They can slow down to a great degree, allowing you to stand up or slide onto the ground on your bottom. No matter what equipment improvements take place, there is an element of risk for serious injury or death that is unavoidable in the world of sport parachuting.
SAFETY & EQUIPMENT

What kind of plane do you fly?
Our fleet comprises a Super Otter, Grand Caravan, and a Cessna 182. The Super Otter and the Grand Caravan are both very roomy skydiving aircrafts, while the Cessna 182 is similar to the aircraft you will find at most smaller facilities.

What if the parachute doesn't open?
All sport parachute systems contain two parachutes: a main and a reserve. The instructors are highly trained on the use of the system and while the need to use the reserve is very rare, it does happen occasionally. All of our tandem student systems are equipped with a sophisticated onboard computer that senses when you are too close to the ground and falling too fast, at which point it will automatically deploy a parachute. The reserve parachute is inspected every 180 days by an FAA certified rigger whether it is used or not.

Is skydiving safe?
We work very hard to make your skydive as safe as it can be. That being said, please do not lose sight of the fact that you are jumping out of an airplane over two miles above the earth.
